I want to provide a service where women - and men - can talk about their experiences without being judged.

This would have specialist councillors to provide immediate care and advice, that other groups cannot offer.I mainly credits my daughters, Laura, 21, Holly, 20, and 17-year-old Hayley, with getting her through.

When you've got children you've just got to carry on. You can't let them see you in tears all the time and you've got to get their meals on the table.

I also know there are times when you need to talk and share your problems.

I remember I was given a telephone number of a rape crisis centre locally to where I live.  I rang it when I needed it most...and got an answering machine. It was only open two nights a week.

When I did get through the lady on the other end of the phone was so easy to talk to and never judged me.  But I found there were times I really needed to call but it went to the machine.  It has now closed because of lack of funding.

There is a large void for victims who need help and a listening ear, in their hour of crisis. In the short term whilst seeking charity regulations we hope to push forward with helping set up a 24 hr seven days a week rape and sexual assault helpline.

I hope we can make a helpline available to victims so they can talk to somebody who understands - when they need help.

It was during - and after my unhappy marriage - that i needed support.

I tried to leave him time and time again.  He physically and verbally abused me, he made me feel scared but at the same time he controlled me.
