Natalie Hutchison, 39, overcame an abusive childhood, two violent marriages and bankruptcy to run a hairdressing firm.

The mother of three collected her prize at the Barclays Trading Places awards — backed by The Sun — at the Cafe Royal, London.

The awards honour those who beat adversity by starting up in business.

Natalie launched Simply Hair less than three years ago. It now makes £100,000 a year and is about to take on a third full-time stylist. Natalie, of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, said: “My life hit rock bottom but starting my business was a life-changing experience.”
